Learning Environment – Child Care – 2 to 3 Years old
The toddler years offer great opportunities for children’s cognitive, emotional and social development. In this period, children’s vocabulary expands quickly. They might understand more words than they can use. They shift from parallel to associative play – instead of working alongside their playmates, they start to observe what others are doing and begin to interact with them. At this age, toddlers start to feel emotions like fear, embarrassment, envy, guilt, empathy, and frustration.
The Explorers room caters for a maximum of 12 children each day and always has 3 educators. Children in the Explorers have access to a bathroom with both toilets and nappy changing facilities.
Children’s needs and strengths are supported with a stimulating learning environment. There are areas for creative play, dramatic play, literacy, exploration and relaxation. In the Explorers, we aim to nurture in all the children a sense of belonging and help them to feel safe, secure, and supported.
